Fabian Monge working in his workshop

Raised in the rural mountains of Cartago, Costa Rica, Fabián Monge creates works that explore the liminal space between reality and perception, the personal and the collective, the seen and the intuited. Through painting, drawing, and dimensional form, Monge searches for the overlap between individual subconscious experience and the broader collective imagination we unknowingly share.

His acrylic works feel like studies in cognitive magic—narrative compositions alive with vibrant color and disjointed logic. Whether painting storybook creatures, layered illusions, or dreamlike environments, he invites us to examine the way we see and what we believe to be true.

Fascinated by the incongruous and the fantastical, Monge uses the visual language of scientific illustration as a way to examine what cannot be measured. His work is a dialogue—with nature, memory, and the viewer—and a contribution to the shared imagination of humanity.
